Welcome to the August/September issue of International Artist magazine! This is a truly special issue as we celebrate Harley Brown’s final column after an incredible 170 issues spanning 28 years. That accomplishment alone represents a remarkable career and an extraordinary contribution to the world of art.
Harley is a master painter, author, teacher and one of the most respected voices our industry has ever known. Through his books—including Eternal Truths for Every Artist series, Confessions of a Starving Artist and Inspiration for Every Artist—along with his paintings, workshops and monthly columns, he has inspired generations of artists to paint with confidence, honesty and passion. You can buy his book Eternal Truths for Every Artist in our IAP bookstore at internationalartist.com.
Beyond his many accomplishments, Harley has always been one of the kindest people in our art community. He never knew a stranger, and everyone fortunate enough to meet him walked away encouraged. His paintings will live on in museums, galleries and private collections, but perhaps his greatest legacy is the countless artists whose lives he touched through his generosity of time and his wisdom and unwavering belief in their potential.
Adolfo and I are deeply honored to call Harley our friend and grateful that he has shared his heart with our readers for nearly three decades.
Please enjoy Harley’s final column on page 112, and be sure to scan the QR code to hear his conversation with Maggie Cibik on our podcast The American Art Collective. It remains one of our most listened to episodes, with more than 300,000 downloads.
Harley, thank you for every story, every lesson, every brushstroke and every word. While this chapter comes to a close, your influence will continue to inspire artists around the world for generations to come. On behalf of all of us at International Artist, congratulations on an extraordinary journey.
Sincerely,
Wendie Martin & Adolfo Castillo
