Welcome to the February/March issue! “Call for Entries” is a familiar headline you’ll find in our pages each month. For more than 25 years, International Artist has encouraged artists from around the world to enter our Art Competitions—helping to discover and showcase countless talented artists along the way.
Over the years, our competition community has grown into a remarkable collective, with more than 175,000 submissions from artists at every stage of their careers. To celebrate this milestone and the creativity behind it, our team is thrilled to introduce an expanded lineup of prizes for this year’s winners. Blick Art Materials and Raymar have joined our competition as sponsors, and we have added a few things ourselves. We have more than 600 artists enter each competition. Our prizes includes a two-page spread in International Artist, a four-page feature in American Art Collector to connect you to a wide base of collectors, a $100 gift certificate from Blick, a $100 gift certificate from Raymar and a signed certificate. Being one of our winners in this competition is truly a game changer for artists.
Grand Prize winner Rukiye Garip says, “Winning the Grand Prize increased the visibility of my work and further motivated me to move forward with new pieces. It has been a pleasure to take part in a competition that values artistic merit and technical prowess.” Daniela Werneck, also a Grand Prize winner, furthers the sentiment by noting, “As a self-taught artist, I view art competitions as essential for validating my effort and allowing me to constantly learn and improve my paintings. This prize has provided unparalleled recognition and conferred a level of prestige and confidence I had only dreamed of.” When you enter an art competition, your world gets bigger immediately. Check out our Call for Entries on page 15 for more details on how to enter our latest challenge.
We have even more for you inside the pages of this issue with our annual Artist Groups and Societies Guide, starting on page 31. The best way to keep painting is to join a society of like-minded artists who help keep you focused and motivated. And the different types of art groups out there are practically endless, from style to medium to genre. Enjoy this issue!
Sincerely,
