  1. I love painting portraits of loved ones. This is a watercolor of my sweet mom. I hung it where I can always see it while painting. She is one of my greatest supporters, and I find having her portrait near my drafting table brings positive energy to my work.
  2. This inspiration board consists of postcards, sentimental images and keepsakes. Images by some of my favorite artists such as Henri Matisse, Alice Neel and John Singer Sargent are included on my board. The cork board is also useful for hanging up my reference photos.
  3. I have been working on a series of self-portraits recently. This one painted on Ampersand cradled Aquabord is one of my favorites, and it depicts me trying on a blue dress in a boutique, hence the title, Portrait of the Artist Shopping.
  4. I have won numerous awards in my ten years as a watercolorist. This one was my very first award, the Leila Gardin Sawyer Award given to me by the American Artists Professional League back in 2018. I became president of this art organization in 2021 and have held the position ever since.
  5. I have two beautiful white cats, Angel and Nala. Often this one, Nala, keeps me company as I work on my paintings. I really enjoy having my cats in my studio.
  6. I only use Rosemary & Co. brushes. I recently bought the Billy Showell set and they are great. They are fully synthetic and are very pointy—great for my detailed watercolors. Due to the synthetic bristles, the brushes keep their points for a very long time. The set came with four sizes: 1, 2 , 4 and 6 round brushes. These four have become my go-to brushes.
  7. This is my Japanese water container from Turner Colour Works. It has two compartments for water, and I find this to be very useful. I usually keep one side for cleaning brushes and the other for adding clean water to my washes.   —
