Letter from the Publishers

Welcome to the April/May issue of International Artist magazine! In this issue we have two star artists from our sister collector titles. First, in our own American Art Collector, Emily Copeland is a master charcoal artist with an amazing collector following. She uses charcoal to capture photorealistic antique objects. The relationship between subject and medium create a visual experience that makes you feel like you’ve captured a memory of a different time. A Canadian artist, you can find Emily’s work at RJD Gallery in Romeo, Michigan. Editor Alyssa Tidwell has put together an excellent feature starting on page 32. If you haven’t heard of Emily Copeland you need to follow her work as an artist. She will inspire you.

Karen Clarkson is another celebrated artist who has appeared many times in our own Native American Art magazine. In fact, she was our cover artist for the August/September 2022 Santa Fe Indian Market Issue. She has a robust 10-page oil demonstration in this issue. Karen is a figurative and portrait artist who brings Native American culture to life, particularly children. She is also known for her ravens. If you are looking for techniques, inspiration, new ideas, or all of the above, both Karen and Emily are artist alumni of International Artist Publishing and are famous in their respective genres. Follow them both on social media and watch their careers continue to expand.

This issue also contains our second annual Art Shows & Fairs Guide, which starts on page 53. It will help guide you to art shows and fairs across the country to grow your collector following. The shows included in this guide are friends of the magazines, whether we are show sponsors or provide editorial content to support the artists and the shows. Either way, find a fair that interests you and set your goal to attend, buy a booth or enter a competition. You are on the path to becoming a well-recognized and sought-after artist. That is our wish for you!

Sincerely,
Wendie Martin & Adolfo Castillo
