Letter from the Publishers

Welcome to the February/March issue of International Artist magazine! We are expecting great things in the art world in 2025. New artists will be discovered, existing artists will gain more recognition and master painters will continue their quest for genres that capture our collecting interest. All along the way we are creating community!

In this issue we have brought to you our second annual guide to art groups and societies. We believe that artists by nature collaborate, inspire and admire like-minded artists’ work. There is a saying, “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” We hear artists discuss this often, especially as their journey becomes their career.

Joining a society or group like the International Guild of Realism, the Colored Pencil Society or the Portrait Society will bring lifelong friends, skills and camaraderie. As a member of an art society, you will have access to special events, instruction, juried shows and awards. Starting on page 46, please peruse through which society fits you best and consider joining. It will be a great experience in your artist journey.

Our own James Gurney, whose Station Points column has been a favorite in International Artist for over 20 years, was recently a guest on our podcast The American Art Collective. This is the number one artist podcast with over 300,000 downloads. Listen to James’ story on episode 305 as he discusses his life in art with our host Michael Clawson. You can find The American Art Collective on Spotify, Apple and Audible. After James, you can listen to more than 300 other artists’ stories. If you like James’ story, we know you will find other artists you enjoy as well. Please email Adolfo or myself with your comments; your feedback is always appreciated.

Sincerely,
Wendie Martin & Adolfo Castillo
