Explore the studios of some of the world’s best artists

 

  1. My still life box. I use this so I can control the light hitting my set-up. I have various sized ones I made from foam-core.
  2. My grid. I used an old picture frame, tied dark, heavy thread around it at 1" intervals horizontally and vertically, and then hung it in front of my set-up. It helps me to do the drawing a little more quickly.
  3. My collection. I’ve collected and been given a lot of old, beautiful silver and linens that I use for my paintings. There’s more on the other side of the studio.
  4. My monocular. This is a Brunton 7 by 18 pocket monocular. I use it to see the details of my subject without having to go closer, which would change my perspective. I mostly use it when I’m working on the final layer of my painting.
  5. My teacup warmer. I always have a hot cup of tea when I’m working, and this keeps it warmer a little longer.
