1. A reproduction of one of Degas’ dancer statues. I’ve spent hours in The Met drawing these, and I love their gestures.

2. One of a dozen white marble eggs I found at a garage sale. They look just like eggs. Good for still life and excellent to hold in your hand.

3. A note from a friend. It’s barely visible, but there is a piece of paper between the footed bowl and the blue pitcher, dated “2-7-99.”

4. My vintage blue ombre pitcher made by Le Creuset. Things I love about it: the color, the proportions, the gradient and the usefulness.

5. My unbreakable blue cup with a mid-century aesthetic, probably because it was manufactured sometime during the 1960s.

6. Backlighting. Not an object, but the lighting in the photo. It simplifies things and makes a little mystery.
